MTD Genuine Parts Blades 981-0490 Editorial Review
The MTD 981-0490 Chipper Blade has garnered a mixed reception from users who have incorporated it into their yardwork tools. Many customers have praised the blades for their effectiveness and compatibility with various chipper/shredder models, specifically noting a significant improvement in performance compared to older or worn blades. Users reported that the blades efficiently handled branches and limbs, contributing to a smoother and faster shredding process. The convenience of installation has also been highlighted, with several reviewers mentioning that the replacement process was straightforward. However, there are notable concerns regarding the product's initial sharpness. A significant number of customers have observed that the blades arrive only roughly ground, which necessitates additional sharpening before optimal use. This lack of a finely sharpened edge has led to some frustration, as users expected a higher quality finish given the brand's reputation. Despite these drawbacks, many users have found ways to work around the issue, often opting to sharpen the blades themselves, and they report that once appropriately serviced, the blades perform excellently. Overall, while the MTD 981-0490 Chipper Blade shows promise in enhancing the functionality of chipper/shredders, customers suggest that a more rigorous quality control process regarding sharpness could improve satisfaction significantly. **
