General Tools Marking Tools 523 Editorial Review
The General Tools General 523 Trammel Set has garnered a mixed reception from customers, primarily celebrated for its quality and ease of use, but also critiqued for some design limitations. Users have praised its ability to draw large circles effortlessly and transfer measurements with accuracy, characteristics that define a decent trammel set. The smooth operation of the thumb screws and the precise asymmetrical grinding of the points for fine-tuning distances are noteworthy features as well. However, a frequent critique centers around the size of the styluses; they are thinner than standard pencils, making it challenging for users to fit a traditional pencil securely in the clamp. This design flaw has led some to suggest modifications, such as sanding down the pencil for better fit. Many users found that the functionality is undermined by inConsistent manufacturing, with reports of clamps that do not secure the point tightly due to spring issues. On the whole, while the General 523 Trammel Set performs its intended functions well and offers good value, it leaves room for improvement in terms of design finesse and compatibility with more marking tools. **
