SEGA Games VZ-00213-6 Editorial Review
**** VOEZ for the Nintendo Switch stands out as a top-tier rhythm game, appealing especially to enthusiasts of the genre. The game boasts an extensive library of songs, many of which are engaging and well-composed, enhancing the overall experience. With all songs unlocked from the start, players benefit from immediate access to the full content set, making it a better deal than the mobile version where songs are sold separately. However, it’s important to note that VOEZ shines brightest when played in tablet mode using the touchscreen rather than with a controller, which can diminish the rhythm experience. The unique gameplay features dynamic note scrolling corresponding to the song and its difficulty, providing a distinctive touch that sets it apart from other rhythm games. The forgiving "no health bar" mechanic allows players to focus on enjoying the game without the stress of failing, but achieving perfect timing—denoted by "rainbow" ratings—can still prove challenging. While the game lacks extra unlockable content beyond a storyboard and player iCons, and has its frustrations—like players needing to be mindful of finger drag on the touchscreen—these minor shortcomings are outweighed by the rich song selection and fun gameplay. VOEZ encourages practice and refinement, catering to players who are willing to invest the time into mastering their performance. Overall, it's a must-have for rhythm game fans and offers a much richer experience compared to its mobile predecessor. **
